Waimea Monthly Book Club will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 with Michele Chavez-Pardini. This month the group will discuss “A Man Called Ove,” a novel by Fredrik Backman about a curmudgeon who hides a terrible personal loss beneath a cranky and short-tempered exterior while clashing with his new neighbors, a boisterous family whose chattiness and habits lead to unexpected friendship. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own copy of each month’s book. Bring a pupu to share.
