Registration is now open for West Hawaii Dance Theatre and Academy fall semester of classes. The semester begins Sept. 1 and runs through Dec. 17.

West Hawaii Dance Theatre offers a comprehensive dance program with a focus on classical ballet training in various age divisions including children’s (ages 3-100); youth (ages 8-15); pre-professional (ages 11 and up); and teen and adult.

In addition, the nonprofit academy offers four- to 12-week sessions in theater dance (ages 6 and up); tap (all ages); ballet/tap combo (ages 3-5); beginning jazz (ages 8-11); contemporary jazz (ages 12 and up); and intermediate advanced lyrical jazz (ages 12 and up).

Classes are taught by Virginia Holte, founder and artistic director; Midori Satoh, assistant director; and instructors Jenna Ojeda, Ann Marie Pargett, Juanita Finkenberg, and Jacqueline Collier, and guest instructor from Maui, Ali Hasert.

Students enrolled in WHDT’s fall semester of ballet classes are eligible to perform with West Hawaii Dance Theatre and guest performers in the holiday classic ballet “The Nutcracker” presented at the Kahilu Theatre in December.

Founded in 1993, WHDTA is a nonprofit that offers diverse and family friendly program includes daily classes in multiple dance and theater disciplines, workshops, outreach programs, performance opportunities, and guest artist residencies.
