Brenda Thomas
Brenda “Bee” Joyce Thomas, 60, of Honalo died May 19, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 18, 1955, in Kahaluu, she was a security office for Reynolds Kamakawiwoole Security, a past co-owner of Kuakini Cafe No. 2 and a member of Helani Congregational Church.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 23 at Kahaluu Beach Park Pavilion in Kahaluu for an 11 a.m. memorial service. A potluck luncheon will follow. The family requests casual attire.
She is survived by husband, Melvin Thomas of Honalo; sons, Thomas (Lei) Rivera and Melvin (Sarah) Thomas Jr., all of Honalo, Mark (Renee) Thomas of Maui, Kale Noa of Kalihi, Oahu; daughters, Joycelyn (Lyle) Matsuoka of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Brandy Halliwell of Washington, Brianna Halliwell of Honalo; brothers, Bernard (Lee) Hu of Naalehu, Richard Rivera and Guy (Jeri) Rivera, all of Holualoa; sisters, Amanda Faifai of Oahu, Bernice (Clay) Jimenez of Ewa Beach, Oahu, and Glenda (Richard) Glasser, Carol (Joseph) Tina, both of Kailua-Kona; Anna (Marty) Sacay of Keauhou Mauka, Joann Morimoto, Mona Bustillo, both of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hiromasa Kondo
Hiromasa “Muggs” Kondo, 90, of Hilo died June 28, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 27, 1926, in Hilo, he was a retired salesman from Y. Hata &Company Limited, a World War II Army veteran, and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission and Waiakea Pirates Association.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 22, 2016 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Hatsumi Kondo of Hilo; son, Glenn Kondo of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lawrence Quintos
Lawrence Quintos, 71, of Keaau died May 13, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 16, 1944, in Honolulu, he retired as a pastor for the Pentacostal Christian Fellowship Center in Hilo.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 16 at The Gospel of Alpha &Omega Church in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service.
He is survived by wife, Rosemary Quintos of Keaau; son, Lawrence (Ronette) Quintos Jr. of Hilo; daughters, Tessie (Peter Paoa) Quintos, Christina (Frankie) Babas, both of Keaau HI; 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary Benson
Gary Charles Benson, 72, of Keauhou died July 10, 2016, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born July 21, 1943, in San Francisco, he was a surfboard and canoe builder, vice president and member of Honaunau Head Hunters.
Private service held.
He is survived by brother, Jerry (Leinaala) Benson of Honaunau; sister, Kris Rosado; hanai daughter, Koko Johnson, both of California; numerous nieces and nephews.
