Free concert at Lanihau Center
A free concert is planned from 4-8 p.m. Saturday in the Lanihau Shopping Center parking lot near Verizon Wireless.
Music will provided by five churches from the community. The event includes free raffle prizes, cotton candy, popcorn and water. The VFW will hold a bake sale. Attendees should bring their own chairs.
Advocats meets, seeks volunteers
Advocats meets at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kona Vistas community center on Pualani Street off of Lako Street.
AdvoCats is a Hawaii County endorsed nonprofit trap-neuter-return organization committed to solving the homeless cat issue in a humane way. The organization is seeking communities willing to trap cats and bring them to a monthly clinic. Those with cats that need to be trapped and spayed or neutered, or those who would like to volunteer or donate may call 327-3724 or email advocatshawaii@aol.com or visit advocatshawaii.org.
More than 18,000 cats have been spayed or neutered since 1999.
Communities may also bring ink cartridges for recycling, or donate funds from their HI-5 recycleables to Advocats at Atlas.
Charity bowling tournament
benefits VASH
The Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii Island is holding a charity bowling tournament from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 21 at KBXtreme in Kona. There will also be a silent auction.
The cost for a team of six is $180 for three hours of bowling. All proceeds benefit VASH Hawaii Island, which assists visitors to the island who experience adversities such as crime victimization, medical emergencies or the death of a loved one.

Yoga for Creativity seminar planned
Yoga for Creativity, a seminar to nourish your creative soul will be offered from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Kona Dance and Performing Arts Studio, 81-973 Halekii St. in Kealakekua.
The class will help attendees nourish the heart of their writing, art, music and dance with yogic tools that cleanse the mind and body and spark the creative fire.
This seminar is a benefit for Artwaves, a nonprofit organization to Nourish the Children. Suggested donation is $30.
All levels of yoga experience are welcome. Attendees should bring a mat if they have one, a closed water bottle and sketchbook or journal.
