Alfred Bladen

Alfred George Bladen, 94, of Kailua-Kona died June 30, 2016, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born April 18, 1922, in Chicago, he was an engineer for Lawrence Radiation Laboratory and a World War II Marine Corps. veteran.

Internment will be at noon Aug. 17 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by son, William (Dorotea) Bladen of El Dorado, Calif.; sister, June Bladen of Reno, Nev.; one grandson; one niece.

Sueko Takamoto

Sueko Takamoto, 101, of Kukuihaele died July 31, 2016, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired cook for the Honokaa Sugar Co. manager’s household and a member of the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission and the Buddhist Women’s Association.

Private family services were held. The family requests no monetary donations or flowers.

She is survived by sons, Ronald (Patricia) Takamoto of Hilo, Ernest (Aileen) Takamoto of Calif. and Stanley Takamoto of Hilo; daughter, Amy (William) Helm of Honolulu; brother, Iwao Nagata of Hilo; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia Martin

Virginia May Martin, 81, of Waimea died July 29, 2016, at Kohala Hospital. Born June 16, 1935, in Worcester, Mass., she was a dental hygienist.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughter, Monique Van Den Hurk of Waimea; nephew, Jim Hathaway of San Francisco.
