Summer lunch program
a success
Kona Pacific Public Charter School, along with program partner Hawaii Island Youth Corps, served more than 10,000 free lunches to children this summer through the Mobile Summer Lunch Program.
The lunches were delivered to nine sites throughout West Hawaii throughout June and July, and to three short-term sites.
Hawaii Island Youth Corps mobilized 12 volunteers to assist with lunch distribution and eight community partners stepped up to help fight childhood hunger over the summer when schools were closed.
Kona Pacific Public Charter School offers a comprehensive Waldorf educational program. The school operates the WHOLE Food Service Program, which provides daily healthy meals for more than 650 at-risk and disadvantaged students, young children and elderly.
