Zhineng Qigong will be led by Master Ning Jian Xiong from China on Aug. 11 from 6—7:30 p.m. Master Ning will demonstrate, describe and share some of the medicine-less healing techniques used in Zhineng Qigong. Using breath and body awareness, Master Ning will lead attendees in experiencing and discovering the potential of true self healing. These simple movements bring back a natural state of being by activating creative power to connect with an infinite, universal source.
Self-Facial Massage with Chikako Hoshino-Powers, certified massage therapist, will be from 10:30 am—noon on Aug. 13. Giving a self face massage can relieve headaches, anxiety and fatigue, improve the complexion and promote smoother skin, leaving a fresher feeling and look. It’s the ultimate anti-aging technique; toning facial muscles, lifting slack skin and reducing puffiness by increasing circulation. Both men and women can benefit from learning this self-care practice. Bring a favorite facial cream, one large and one hand towel. Do not wear make-up.
Neighborhood Watch, a new monthly meeting, will kick off on Aug. 15 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. All residents are invited to attend this educational meeting led by South Kohala Police Officer May Lee to learn about how to start and maintain a Neighborhood Watch program. Topics will include what to look for and how to report suspicious activity. Police, crime prevention and neighbors together can increase community safety and security.
Family Science Night at Earl’s Garage will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 19 with Katherine DuBose, a great opportunity for family members of all ages to work together and spend time exploring hands on activities.
