Masaru Hamakawa
Masaru “Mamo” Hamakawa, 83, of Hilo died Aug. 3, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired engineer with the federal government.
Visitation is at 3 p.m. Aug. 7 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, where a service will be held at 4 p.m. The family requests casual attire and no flowers or monetary donations.
He is survived by son, Glen (Irene) Hamakawa of Cerritos, Calif.; daughter, Lisa (Howard) Shaw of Encinitas, Calif.; brothers,Fumio (Emiko) Hamakawa, Kiyoshi (Mikako) Hamakawa, both of Hilo; sister, Tsuyuko Blackwood of Springfield, Ohio; five grandchildren.
