Friends of the Libraries, Kona is planning to start a teen book club beginning in October.

Friends of the Libraries, Kona is planning to start a teen book club beginning in October.

The club would be geared toward students in grades six through 12 and will tentatively meet Oct. 29 on the library’s lanai. So far, organizers have determined the club will be held Saturday mornings; provide new books in paperback format with the condition that it can be kept if the student reads it and participates in discussion and include about 10 people. Snacks and social time will be included in the discussions.

The book club could be called TRIK (Teen Readers in Kona), but that could change as FOLK is seeking input from teens as it continues the planning process. A form with additional questions including what types of book the club would read and more can be found at www.folkhawaii.com.

The form can be turned in at the Kailua-Kona library. A sign-up sheet is also posted at the library reference desk.
