Moku O Kohala and Na Poki’i Inc. scholarships awarded
Moku O Kohala, the Kohala Chapter of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, in partnership with Na Poki’i, Inc., a community-based nonprofit organization, awarded 12 $1,000 scholarships to students from the Kohala district in July. They were selected based on their recent grade point averages and a commitment to their ongoing education as demonstrated in individual essays.
The awardees were Autumn Chong, Kamaha’o Shimaoka, Joshua Tomiyama, Lana Incillio, Destinee Bader, Ryan Chun, Whitney Hoku Cazimero, Brittney Adams, David Nesting Jr., Dezlie Gibo, Kahana Cazimero and Halana Bertlemann-Makanani.
Moku O Kohala and Na Poki’i, Inc. invest in the future of local students in hope that the dividends of this investment will be realized in productive community leaders of the next generation.
Donors made these scholarships possible. Moku O Kohala has been awarding scholarships to students from the Waimea, Waikoloa and Kohala area for the last four years. Next year’s fundraiser will be in Waimea in April.
