Registration for adult education begins
Registration for adult education classes at the Waipahu Community School for Adults Kona Campus is today through Aug. 12.
The former Kona Community School for Adults offers classes in basic education, high school diploma equivalency and workforce education. Classes offered include basic language arts and math, life skills required to complete the Competency-Based (CB) Community School Diploma Program, and preparation for the General Education Development (GED) and High School Equivalency (HiSet) test. Additional classes include English Language Acquisition (ELA) and special interest such as ukulele making.
Waipahu Community School for Adults Kona Campus will introduce a new program called ICAN. This $20 a term career and workforce certification program is designed to help high school graduates transition to a job, career, college or training program.

Craft group meets
The Creative Soul Craft Group meets from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at Unity of Kona Church, 75-5722 Hangman Pl.
This monthly class helps participants manage stress, receive direction in life and gain greater self understanding. It is for adults and adolescents age 12 or older.
The class will begin with a short talk, inspirational reading, quick journaling, and guided relaxation. Participants will be able to artistically and emotionally explore various topics. All materials are provided and no artistic ability is necessary. Donations welcomed.

Kona Interfaith Meditation Society meets
The Kona Interfaith Meditation Society meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Hawaiian Queen Coffee Garden, 75-1048 Henry St.
The program will present James Finley’s teachings on Buddha’s eight-fold path to enlightenment and, centrally, the relevance of meditation to progress on that path. There will also be discussion, a period of silence and refreshments.
Also, an introductory class on centering prayer meditation will be offered at 5 p.m.
