HILO — A Hilo woman who made national headlines earlier this month for her comedic striptease on “America’s Got Talent” has been eliminated from the show.

Dorothy Williams, 90, was sent home Wednesday night during the NBC reality TV show’s “live results” episode. Williams had performed Tuesday on the show’s “live performance” episode as one of 12 acts vying for online votes from viewers. The seven performances which received the most votes advanced to the semi-finals round.

Earlier this month, Williams shocked viewers when she performed a striptease during the show’s audition episode. The former professional clown and lifelong entertainer stripped down to a nude-colored tank top and red underwear and shook red tassels from her bosom.

The show’s host, Nick Cannon, was so impressed with Williams’ initial performance he made an unusual move and gave her a “golden buzzer” — show lingo which guaranteed she’d advance to the next round.

On Tuesday, Williams performed a second striptease, though she was surrounded this time by a troupe of similarly tassel-clad, professional dancers. That performance earned heavy applause and smiles from judges.

Williams wasn’t immediately available for comment Thursday, but she previously told the Tribune-Herald she wanted to be a role model for senior citizens.

“I figured if at 90, I can get up on the stage, other seniors would say, ‘OK, well I can do something, too,’” Williams said previously. “They might say, ‘I can’t do that, but maybe I can get off the couch and do something rather than watch television all day.’ So, my goal would be to be a role model for senior citizens.”

The show’s finale airs in September.
