Oh my goodness, reverend, I just read your letter to the editor July 24. A lot of people immigrated legally into the United States and changed their names, probably in your own family.

Why would you try to make Donald Trump’s grandfather look like he was a criminal because of that? Remember, the Germans were also victims of Hitler. You seem to especially dislike the Germans who came from southern Germany. The criminals are the ones who have been coming into the United States illegally for years now. After the Republican convention, you said you, “were afraid to turn out the lights and go to bed.” Was that because you had no idea of what was going on in the country and heard it first that night? We are at war with terrorists all over the world and now the attacks in the United States are becoming commonplace, and you just learned of it?
I had the opposite reaction after watching the convention. I know we now have a chance to feel safe in America again if we do elect this leader who will build up our military to protect us, instead of giving millions and the capability to create nuclear weapons to the unhinged leaders in the Middle East as this administration and Hillary Clinton just agreed to do. She said she will increase Syrian refugees even though there is no safe, guaranteed way to vet them and knowing the terrorists have told the world that they have terrorists disguised as refugees among them.
You must have missed part of the speech where Trump vowed to make America safe for all of us and equally to the gay, lesbian, transgenders — to stop the persecution these fellow Americans suffer. What happened in Orlando was unthinkable. Safe for all of us, period.
Perhaps you were sleeping when Trump outlined his tax reform for the middle class. How about bringing big companies back to the U.S. to create jobs and get millions back to work and off welfare, did you hear that? Trump’s the only one with the experience to make America great again because he hasn’t spent his life living off the government and accepting millions of campaign funds from Middle Eastern countries that do not have American’s best interests at heart. He does not need this job, it’s a sacrifice for his company and family and for him to serve. He’s got the smartest people around him that he worked with to become a successful billionaire that he is. He’s got the courage and the brains and he will not be controlled by donors from foreign countries to tell him how to run things.
You seem to love Barack Hussein Obama for his Christian values and said “old prejudiced white men in power made it their goal to make him a one term president.” That obviously wasn’t true or have you been out of town for four years? You are the racist, look at the people running American right now. There are less “old white men” than ever before.” Which I don’t have a problem with but you sure do seem to hate “old white men.” Probably none in your church hu? Your last quote “now you have reaped what you sowed.” Are we talking about the current state the United States is in? In seven years our national debt has doubled, our military is at it weakest, our trade agreements are laughing stock material, more unstable governments have nuclear capability than ever and millions more are on food stamps than ever before in our history. So Reverend Hughes, I’m sure you’re a good person that just has been asleep.
