Coffee with a Cop is planned from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Waimea Starbucks in Parker Ranch Shopping Center and at McDonald’s in Waimea Center.
The public is invited to join their neighbors for coffee and conversation. The event offers a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the neighborhood officers.

Free flower workshop Thursday
The Hawaii Floriculture and Nursery Association is holding a free floral design workshop with world renowned AIFD floral designer Hitomi Gilliam from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
The workshop is part of a new the Special Occasion 16 program, which promotes the use of locally grown flowers, foliage and plants to decorate special occasions.
Music meet-and-great Thursday
The world’s largest music and film conference and festivals, South by Southwest (SXSW), is holding a set of three island meet-and-greets with the purpose of attracting Hawaiian creative content professionals to its 31st event in Austin, Texas, March 10-19, 2017.
Australian-based Pacific representative Phil Tripp has made annual treks to the islands building up a homegrown contingent across all three disciplines. Over the past few years, more than 80,000 delegates have come from more than 50 countries and Hawaii sent over 40 in 2016.
The Kona meeting is 5 p.m. Thursday at the Ulu Lounge in the Sheraton Keahou Kona Resort &Spa on Ehukai Street within Ray’s On The Bay restaurant.

Recycle Hawaii holds membership meeting
Recycle Hawaii will hold its annual membership meeting from 10 a.m to noon Saturday at West Hawaii Civic Center Building A Council Conference Room. The public is invited.
Board president Jenna Long of Pacific Biodiesel will speak on PB programs being rolled out for over the coming year. Nominations will be sought for volunteer board directors for 1- and 2-year terms. A potluck will follow at noon.
