The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce invites the public to its monthly networking event, AfterHours, from 5-7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.
This Wednesday, AfterHours is hosted by Big Island Bees and Big Island Brewhaus at 82-1140 Meli Road, Suite 102 in Captain Cook. The pau hana networking event offers the chance to link with other businesses, network with members and exchange business cards.
Pupu and refreshments will be served. Samples of organic honey and tours of the Big Island Bees’ museum and demonstration beehives will be offered. General admission cost is $30; $15 for chamber members and first-time nonmembers.

Rapid ohia death presentation in Kealakekua
J. B. Friday, extension forester and Corie Yanger, rapid ohia death outreach specialist with University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources will give a presentation at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kealakekua Public Library.
Attendees will learn about rapid ohia death, how it was identified, what research has been done and what the community can do to stop its spread.
Free estate planning workshop slated
Warren Chong, an independent associate with LegalShield, will lead a basic estate planning workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Suite Possibilities Suite 102 in the Chamber of Commerce Building south of McDonald’s in Kailua-Kona.
Information and a questionnaire will be provided to help attendees complete a will, which can clarify your wishes and help keep peace in the family.

English language learner meeting at Kealakehe
An English Language Learner’s Boot Camp is planned from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Kealakehe High School Cafeteria.
Information on graduation requirements, credit checks, class schedules and assessments will be provided. Help will be provided with filling forms including the free and reduced lunch application, bus application, emergency card and migrant education.

Kealakehe Intermediate School registration opens
The Kealakehe Intermediate School office will be open for registration from 1-4 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
Parents and guardians will be able to pick up their chidrens’ class schedules, pay school fees and make lunch account deposits.
Sixth-grade orientation is Aug. 1, 2016. Only sixth-graders will attend school from 8:15-11:30 a.m. that day. Lunch will not be served. Bus service will be available.
All students will report to school Aug. 2.
