Hundreds of dollars were raised for AdvoCats during a July 9 memorial held for Shadow, Kona Stories bookstore’s official greeter. The feline, which had been part of the bookstore’s ohana since 2007, died July 2.
Brenda McConnell said at least $700 had been raised for the nonprofit feral cat program, and donations are continuing to roll in. The bookstore donated 10 percent of proceeds from sales that day to the nonprofit, in addition to donations made directly to the organization.
