Meditation class offered to seniors
Elderly Recreation Services offers a 10-week course in meditation with Sifu Wayne Chenault July 19 through Sept. 20.
This course will include deep meditation, crystal Buddha meditation, chi kung slow walking meditation, and making life your meditation. This class is open to anyone age 55 and older and will be held from 9-10 a.m. Tuesdays at St. Benedict’s Church, also know as the Painted Church in Honaunau. Cost for this 10-week program is $10.

Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers meet
The West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers meets from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers office, 81-6393 Mamalahoa Highway. Nonmembers are welcome.
Eli Edney, Brian Lievens and Ken Love will discuss the Artocarpus family of fruits, which includes breadfruit, jackfruit, marang and many other artocarpus crops with potential economic benefit for Hawaii.

Free mortgage loan seminar planned
Navigating mortgage loans can be tricky, but from 9:30–11:30 a.m. Saturday, Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union will help participants of a seminar become successful first-time homeowners.
The class is presented in the John Y. Iwane Credit Union Center Training Room at the credit union’s Kaloko facility by Reina Miyamoto, program director of the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center.
Topics covered include the home buying process with a focus on getting a home loan, loan qualification and down payments and closing costs.

Hawaiian Airlines wins service award
Hawaiian Airlines earned top honors at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards after being named recipient of the Best Airline Staff – North America award, which recognizes service excellence.
This year’s winners of the World Airline Awards, the global benchmark of airline excellence, were announced at the Farnborough Airshow in England. Each year, travelers from across the globe participate in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey where winners are determined by customer satisfaction of staff efficiency.
Seniors to play outside
The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. July 20 at Hale Halawai. Following a regular meeting, members will participate in outdoor games including bocce and ground golf.
July birthdays will be celebrated. Attendees should bring canned food items.
