Nathan Winograd, a prominent consultant on animal sheltering issues, will headline a “no kill” conference on Saturday in Kailua-Kona. Hosted by Big Island Dog Rescue, Winograd is expected to give a presentation on the no kill movement and to offer steps for how Hawaii Island can reduce euthanasia of animals turned over to the Hawaii Island Humane Society shelters.

The conference runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. Winograd will also speak Sunday on Kauai. The event is free to the public, with donation accepted. Space is limited.
