Walter White
Walter “Walt” Stephen White, 88, of Hilo died June 14, 2016, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Malden, Massachusetts, he was the proprietor of WS White &Son Engineering, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member the American Legion Post 0003.
A graveside service will be held at noon June 24 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests aloha attire. Condolences may be posted at homelanimemorialpark.com.
He is survived by son, Stephen (Bonnie) White of North Carolina; daughter, Linda Sweinhart of Hilo; sister, Marjorie Erlandson of Ormond Beach, Fla.
Esmenia Foronda
Esmenia Subia Foronda, 67, of Keaau died May 26, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 8, 1948, in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she retired from Life Care Center of Hilo in the laundry department and was a member of the Puna Congregational Church in Keaau.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. June 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. Cremation at Dodo Mortuary. Family requests casual attire. An urn burial will be at 10 a.m. June 27 at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section.
She is survived by son, Joel (Marjorie) Foronda. Noel (Cindy) Foronda, both of Keaau; mother, Catalina Subia of Keaau; brother, Jaime (Leonila) Subia of Pahoa; sisters, Emiliana (Jose Jr.) Galima, Estela (Igmedio) Ellazar, Norma Subia Lato, all of Keaau; three grandchildren.

Gaymond Apaka
Gaymond Hiwauli Apaka, 60, of Hilo died May 22, 2016, at his residence. Born Oct. 29, 1955, in Hilo, he was a Christian education teacher at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus Middle School and associate pastor at Haili Congregational Church in Hilo.
Friends may call from 3:30-5:30 p.m. June 25 at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus William Charles Lunalilo Center for a 6 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by wife, Elena Apaka of Hilo; sons, Lon (Mandi) Apaka, Kensy (Jaime) Apaka, and Kimo Apaka, all of Hilo; parents, Kenneth and Pansy Apaka of Hilo; sister, Alana (Mark) Foster of Hilo; four grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Librada “Libring” “Badang” Cubar Belen, 31, of Papaaloa, died June 14, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. She was born Aug. 17, 1984, in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
Friends may call from 8-9 a.m. June 25 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Laupahoehoe for a 9:30 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.
She is survived by parents, Romulo and Teresita Belen of Papaaloa; brothers, Roderick Belen of Papaaloa, Geronimo (Joana) Belen of the Philippines, Herry Belen of Germany and Harold Belen of Papaaloa; sisters, Mary Grace (John) Vlahovic of Ontario, Canada, Angelica Reynell Belen of Papaaloa; one nephew; one niece; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Demetrio Gambalan
Demetrio Magno Gambalan, 96, of Kapaau died May 19, 2016, at home. Born in Batac, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired laborer with the former Kohala Sugar Co, and member of and one of the “Fabulous Five” at the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 8-9:30 a.m. June 25 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at the Halawa Catholic Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Emily Gambalan of Kapaau; daughter, Margaret Hoshida, Debbie (Robert) Ellazar, both of Kohala; sister, Feliza Batara of Waipahu, Oahu; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Linke
Richard “Dick” Oscar Linke, 98, of Holualoa died June 15, 2016, at his home. Born Oct. 23, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y,, he was a personal manager in the entertainment industry, member of the Kona Elks Lodge No. 2616, former president of Lakeside Golf Club in Burbank, Calif. and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by wife, Bettina Linke of Holualoa; sons, Paul (Christine) Linke of Los Angeles, Richard (Nicole) Linke Jr., of Haleiwa, Oahu; daughters, Nanci (Steve) Linke-Ellis, Katharine Linke, both of Los Angeles, Bettina Marie (L.J.) McCullough of Holualoa; 10 grandchildren.
