HONOLULU (AP) — A Waipahu travel agency is working to reimburse dozens of customers who paid thousands of dollars for flights to the Philippines but were never given plane tickets.
KHON-TV reports that the customers reported the problem this past week. The owner of Diplomat Travel and Tours, Elma Pacleb, says she called Philippine Airlines to sort out the mishap and was told the customers’ payments had never been received, resulting in their reservations being cancelled.
Pacleb’s attorney, Michael Green, says his client lost the money on a risky business venture and that “it wasn’t done intentionally.”
He says they’re working to issue refunds to the affected customers.
Honolulu police have launched an investigation into the incident.
