The Contingency Grant funding supports DMAC’s Pua Naa Pua Microenterprise Development Project, a collaboration with AHA (Abled Hawaii Artists), and Full Life Hawaii, a social service provider for those with developmental disabilities (DD).
This grant will support DMAC’s launch of an arts education program that cultivates creativity, skills development and microenterprise opportunities, while Full Life will provide individual companion care and transportation for its clients to explore their earnings potential through the arts.
Funds will also support the Pua Na Pua Art Festival on Aug. 13 at Keauhou Shopping Center. This festival will be the first of its kind in West Hawaii, inclusively showcasing the contributions of both DD and non-DD artists. It is modeled on the highly successful Abled Hawaii Artists’ event in Hilo at the Prince Kuhio Shopping Center, celebrating its ninth consecutive year, and will feature arts, crafts, artisanal goods, live music, demos, and a silent auction.
The Holualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture provides art education and experiences to people of all ages and abilities at the Donkey Mill Art Center.
