Alfonso Marcos
Alfonso B. Marcos, 95, of Keaau died May 31, 2016, at Life Center of Hilo. Born Jan. 26, 1921, of Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a self-employed papaya farmer and a member of the Keaau Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. June 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8:30 a.m. June 17 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 10 a.m. prayer service. Casual attire; burial at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section.
He is survived by sons, Juanito (Nellie) Marcos and Romeo (Emma) Marcos of Keaau; daughters, Helen Marcos of Keaau and Anita (Howard) Takara of Hilo; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce Kelekolio
Joyce “Aunty Lani” Leilani Kelekolio, 79, of Hilo died June 3, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 29, 1937, in Hilo, she was an associate at Walmart – Hilo. She was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward and the Panaewa Farmers Association.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. June 17 at the Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Avenue for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha or casual attire is requested.
She is survived by sons, Louis (Ilka) Kelekolio of Hilo, Stanley Kelekolio of Panaewa, David (Chelle Miller) Kelekolio of Keaukaha; daughter, Dawnaree (Bob) Arnold of Paauilo; brothers, Merney (Lyn) Baysa of Puna, Ernesto Abaya of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Nemecio (Anne) Abaya Jr. of Honolulu, Daniel (Maija) Abaya of Captain Cook; sisters, Marylyn Soaladaop of Honolulu, Dixie Lee Kingsolver of St. Louis, Elisa Myra (William) Louia of Kailua-Kona, Mary Abaya of Hilo; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alan Tavares Sr.
Alan “Mr. T” “Sexy” Lloyd Tavares Sr., 68, of Keaau died May 17, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born Oct. 7, 1947, in Hilo, he was employed with Hilo Electric and Hawaii Electric Light Co. and retired as a system and control operator. He was also a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and numerous motorcycle clubs.
Friends may call at 5:30 p.m. June 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 7 p.m. celebration of life. Aloha attire.
He is survived by wife, Sharon Tavares; sons, JR Tavares, Shane (Olivia) Tavares, Trin Endo, Wesley (Mae) Tavares, Preston (Kuulei) Endo, Dereck Huddy and Ikaika (Sharnell) Huddy; daughters, Serena (Tray) Nasau, Crystal (Tim) Aglian and Shalan Marie Tavares; brother, Alfred (Maile) Tavares; sister, Patsey (Danny) Ongais; 25 grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
