A man was arrested Thursday in connection with a bomb threat at a bank in Hilo.

South Hilo Patrol officers received a call that a man had passed a handwritten bomb threat to a teller at a bank in a supermarket on the 300 block of Makaala Street in Hilo shortly before noon. The store was evacuated as a precaution.

At 1:20 p.m., police arrested the customer, identified as 29-year-old Russell Monlux of Hilo. He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while police continue the investigation. The case is classified as a terroristic threatening.
