A report of a suspicious car lead to the arrest of two people, after the vehicle turned out to be stolen from a rental car company.

The gray Nissan four-door sedan was parked at a walking trail between Kealakehe Parkway and Keanalehu Drive when the report was made at 8:03 a.m. Monday.

Officers arrested the driver, Jeremy Pilgrim, 37, of Kailua-Kona, and his passenger, Rita Reeves, 34, also of Kailua-Kona. They reportedly discovered packets of meth from Pilgrim’s person. The two were taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives continued the investigation.

Police said a search of the car led to the recovery of meth, marijuana and paraphernalia associated with the use and distribution of illegal drugs.

The pair were charged at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Pilgrim was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, second-degree meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was initially set at $80,000.

Reeves was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $6,250.

Both appeared in Judge Aley Auna’s court on Wednesday and were both ordered to appear in court at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Pilgrim had his bond reduced to $35,000 and Reeves was placed on supervised release.
