HONOLULU — State tourism officials say a women’s professional tennis tournament will be played in Hawaii in November.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority said Tuesday the Hawaii Open will feature 32 world-ranked players. It says the Women’s Tennis Association event will be Hawaii’s largest professional tennis tournament in decades.

Agency CEO George Szigeti and Gov. David Ige are scheduled to announce details of the tournament at a news conference on Thursday along with Honolulu Managing Director Roy Amemiya and tennis officials.

The weeklong tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 20.
