Basically Books in Hilo hosts a talk story with D.S Thornton, a local young adult sci-fi author this evening.
In her new book, “Scrap City,” Jerome Barnes meets Arkie in the local junkyard. Arkie is a Scrapper from Smithytowne, far beneath the surface, where everything — even the people — are made entirely of Topside discards.
Attendees will also meet award-winning author Wen Spencer and learn about, “TINKER,” the first novel in the Elfhome series. It introduces readers to inventor and girl genius, Tinker. Spencer will read from her upcoming book Project Elfhome.
The free event is from 6-7 p.m. Basically Books is located at 160 Kamehameha Ave.
