HILO — Police have charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with threatening notes left at Waiakea High School in Hilo.

HILO — Police have charged a 15-year-old boy in connection with threatening notes left at Waiakea High School in Hilo.

At 11 a.m. Friday, the teen was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and fourth-degree criminal property damage.

He was then released to the custody of his family, police said.

The case will be turned over to the jurisdiction of Family Court.

Multiple notes threatening violence were left on bathroom walls sometime between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday.

At 9 a.m. Friday, police arrested the suspect at the school. Because he is a minor, police will not release his identity.
