Top hit songwriters from around the country will gather at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel June 16-18 for the Hawaii Songwriting Festival, culminating in two concerts open to the community.
Hawaii’s music community will have an opportunity to work one-on-one with songwriters who have written hits for mega-stars such as Plain White T’s, Will.i.Am, Tim McGraw, Whitney Houston, Taylor Swift, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, Etta James, Christina Aguilera, George Strait, Martina McBride, Daughtry, Chris Young, Florida Georgia Line, Chicago, Backstreet Boys, Rascal Flatts, Nickel Creek, and many more.
Festival attendees will spend three intensive days and evenings learning from the best in the business: songwriters, music supervisors for film and TV, music publishers, music producers, and more. Small workshops, panel discussions, open mic performances, and speed mentoring sessions will provide attendees with information and networking opportunities needed in order to succeed in the craft and in the business of writing songs.
The festival culminates in two public concerts at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel’s Ballroom at 7 p.m. co-sponsored by HARA and Mele Mei. The “Island Night” concert on June 17 features Raiatea Helm, Paula Fuga, John Cruz, Streetlight Cadence, among others. The “Hit Makers” concert on June 18 features a roster of hit songwriters who will be performing and sharing the stories about their hit songs. This concert is a unique look at the behind-the-scenes music creators.
Festival registration is $200.
