Konawaena High School is the state winner for the 2015 Recycle-Bowl school competition held Oct. 19 to Nov. 15. Participating schools were ranked according to the ratio of reported pounds of recyclable material collected during the four-week collection period and the number of students and teachers on their campus.

With support from science teacher Renee Hashimoto, Konawaena’s Go Green Club members collected 5,389 pounds of paper and redeemable beverage containers. Their ongoing recycling paid off as they were the top winner in 2012 and they came in second place in 2014.
