Today’s and Saturday’s schedule includes numerous workshops.
A silent auction will run 10 a.m. until the festival closes with a farewell dinner. Funds raised help support the conference, cover travel costs for kumu and fund scholarships.
A hoolaulea, or craft fair, is slated Friday and Saturday.
The event is organized by Ka Ulu Lauhala O Kona, a nonprofit organization founded in 1995 by master lauhala weaver Elizabeth Maluihi Lee. Its mission statement is to “perpetuate, preserve and ensure the growth of the traditional art of lauhala weaving.”
