Kalani Souza, a storyteller, singer, songwriter, musician, performer, poet, philosopher, priest, political satirist, and peacemaker.
The Saturday event at Honokaa People’s Theatre will not only celebrate Souza’s 60th birthday, but will also help raise funds for his foundation Olohana, which according to its website helps communities build resilience and adapt to climate change by strengthening relationships between the generations, between cultures, and with the natural environment. According to a crowdfunding campaign, Souza is suffering from a medical condition and is currently undergoing treatment.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door. Stew and rice and baked goods will available at the theater, as well as a silent auction.
