Students in the Hawaii Community College – Palamanui Culinary Arts program won several awards at the 18th Annual Hilo Culinary Classic competition April 15.

Students in the Hawaii Community College – Palamanui Culinary Arts program won several awards at the 18th Annual Hilo Culinary Classic competition April 15.

Five students from the Palamanui program entered the competition and all earned gold medals and trophies for their entries. Jolynn Len, Alicia Alcain and Jessica Lloyd received gold medals, first place in their division, and first place in the best of show category for their pastry/confectionery petit four platter.

Tomi Salinger and Mark Eric Afaga received gold medals, second place in their division and second place in the best of show category for their five-course gastronomique menu.
