Two Motown performances featuring Broadway stars from the hit “Motown: The Musical” will take place in West Hawaii.

Jarran Muse, who plays Marvin Gaye on Broadway, and Martina Sykes, who plays Mary Well, take to the stage at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on May 13 and the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay on May 14.

“You wont be able to resist getting up and singing and dancing before the night is over,” said Frank Meyer, Hoku Concert Series founder and event co-chairman.

The concert “Motown: Greatest Hits,” benefits Big Island nonprofits and foundations including Family Support Hawaii, Hawaii Island Humane Society, Hilo Medical Center Foundation, and Kona Hospital Foundation.

Tickets for the May 13 concert are $60 and will be available when doors open at 6 p.m. for the show starting at 7.

Call the Kona Hospital Foundation for more on information on the May 14 performance, which gets underway at 7:30 p.m., at 322-4587. Tickets are $85.

On May 13, there will be a contest for best dressed and best dancer. On both nights, there will be room for dancing.

“Martina and I are looking forward to bringing the timeless Motown hits to Hawaii. Even if you think you may not know many of the songs, you will as they are still all around in commercials, films, TV, and the web. The show includes songs such as My Girl, My Guy, the Supremes, The Temptations, Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells and so many more,” said Muse. ■
