Waimea’s Sonny Lim performs Sunday evening at Kahilu Theatre.
The intimate evening of acoustic and slack key guitar features Lim and special guests Kevin Kealoha and Miss Aloha Hula 2006 Namakana Davis Lim. The event will be held at the theater’s Luce Studio. Seating is limited to 65 people.
Lim’s debut solo recording, “Slack Key Guitar: The Artistry of Sonny Lim,” was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006. The prior year, he performed with six other artists on Hawaii’s first Grammy Award-winning recording, “Slack Key Guitar Volume 2” . For generations, Sonny and the Lim family have played a significant role in perpetuating Hawaiian music and hula.
Lim will feature pieces from the Grammy Award-nominated recording, as well as additional repertoire with the special guest artists.
Show time is 7 p.m. and tickets, which can be purchased online at www.kahilutheatre.org are $28.
The Palm Records Spring 2016 Acoustic Series, co-presented with Kahilu Theatre, ends in June with Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominee Lito Arkangel.
