Hawaii Island author Tom Peek, a former eruption ranger at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, presents “the story behind the story” of his award-winning novel, “Daughters of Fire,” on Tuesday.

Hawaii Island author Tom Peek, a former eruption ranger at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, presents “the story behind the story” of his award-winning novel, “Daughters of Fire,” on Tuesday.

Peek’s novel is described as “a gripping adventure of romance, intrigue, myth, and murder set amid the cultural tensions of contemporary Hawaii.” The event, which will feature a lecture, reading and book signing, will be held at 7 p.m. at Kilauea Visitor Center Auditorium.

The presentation is part of the park’s ongoing After Dark in the Park series. The program is co-sponsored by Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Hawaii Pacific Parks Association. Entry is free.
