Josephine Alapai
Josephine “Aunty J” Yolanda Hulihee Alapai, 86, of Milolii and Kailua-Kona, died April 25, 2016, at the family’s residence. Born Dec. 19, 1929, in Hianalole, she was a retired hotel attendant at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kona Stake Center in Kailua-Kona.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. May 5 at her residence at 74-5157 Puuolokaa Place, in Kailua-Kona for an all night vigil. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. May 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kona Stake Center in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Luncheon and fellowship will be at the church’s cultural hall. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.
She is survived by sons, Robert (Sharon) Alapai of Hilo, James (Trina) Alapai, Patrick (Lovelyn) Alapai, Hiram (Corina) Alapai, all of Kalaoa, Joseph Alapai,Derrick (Megan) Alapai, both of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Maile (Bruce) Goold of Las Vegas, Cindy (David) Kaulia, Seraphine Kaulia-Alapai Salazar, both of Kailua-Kona, Cynthia (Pancho) Johnson of Milolii, Nani (Isaac) Hoohuli of Kealia; brother, Kazuo Fukumitsu of Lanihau; 45 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joseph Kaua
Joseph Kaua, 71, of Hilo, died March 28, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 16, 1944, in Hilo, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and pastor for The Pillar of the Church of the Living God.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. May 5 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire.
He is survived by, wife, Mabel Kaua; sons, Joey (Peggy) Kaua, Joray (Hershey) Kaua, Shane Kaua and John Kaua; daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Rodney) Kaua-Sakamoto, Merle (Sidney) Liborio and Tammy (Shandon) Kaua-Toguchi; step-sons, Guy (Marvi) Ching and Delbert Ching Jr.; stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Ching; brother, Arthur (Karen) Kaua; sister, Patricia Makekau; one aunt; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Denny Ko
Denny Wayne Ko, 49, of Washington died March 23, 2016. He was born Dec. 2, 1966, in Hilo.

He is survived by mother Yon Ha Ko; father Joseph (Antonette) Kaipo Jr.; sons, Mitchell Kaipo Ko and Riley Kaipo Ko; brothers, Joseph Kaipo III, Travis (Tricia) Santa-Isabel; sisters, Mechelle Kaipo and Jonette (Dennis) Figueroa Jr.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elgen Fujimoto
Elgen Kazuyoshi Fujimoto, 86, of Hilo died April 17, 2016, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born Dec. 23, 1929, in Volcano, he was retired from the State of Hawaii – Hawaii Public Housing Authority as a maintenance worker. He was also a retired carpenter. He was a Korean War Veteran and member of the Disabled American Veterans Hilo Chapter No. 6, Korean War Veterans Big Island Chapter No. 231, Korean War Veterans Association Oahu Chapter 1, Carpenters Union, Hilo Carpenter’s Pension Club, Anela Street Kumiai, Honomu Henjoji (Odaishisan) Mission, Yamaguchi Kenjinkai, and United Public Workers member retiree.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. May 6 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Burial will be at 9 a.m. May 7 at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No 2. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by wife, Janet Fujimoto of Hilo; son, Arlen (Gayle Cho) Fujimoto of Hilo; sister, Grace Hirata of Chicago; two grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
