Special Olympics West Hawaii athletes and supporters will take to the streets Saturday for the 31st annual Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Run for Special Olympics West Hawaii.
The noncompetitive run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of First Hawaiian Bank and proceeds down Palani Road onto Alii Drive heading south. Turn-around will be at Hale Halawai, and participants will then head north on Alii Drive turning left onto Kuakini Highway and then proceeding to the entrance of the Kona Aquatics Center, where they will be joined by Special Olympics athletes and other walkers to bring the torch into the opening ceremonies of the Big Island Regional Softball Tournament. T-shirts are a $30 donation to SOWH. Registration will be 7:30-8:15 a.m. fronting the bank. Ceremony is at 9:10 a.m. at the aquatics center.
