KAILUA-KONA — No new dengue fever cases were confirmed this weekend on Hawaii Island.
Since the start of the outbreak in September of 2015, state health officials have confirmed 264 cases of the mosquito-borne virus on the Big Island, according to the Department of Health. Of those cases, 238 are Hawaii Island residents. Forty-six of the cases have been among children younger than age 18.
The last onset of illness was March 17 and none of the cases remains potentially infectious to mosquitoes. Since September, 1,641 reported cases have been excluded based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
