Samuel Sumner
Samuel S. Sumner, Jr., 68, of Honokaa died Feb. 15, 2016, at Tripler Army Hospital on Oahu. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, he was a retired special education teacher in Honokaa. He loved his country and served four years in the United States Coast Guard and three years in the United States Army, as a Vietnam vet. He was a world traveler, adventurer, discoverer, and was a very active member of the Honokaa Lyons Club.
Burial will take place at 9 a.m. May 21 at the West Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery in Kailua-Kona.
He is survived by wife, Patricia Rivera-Sumner of Honokaa; father, Samuel S. Sumner, Sr. of Oxnard, Calif.; sister, Doris La Frenais; step-daughter, Christine Rivera-Acuna; nephew, granddaughters, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Crystal Sumner.
Kent Pettingill
Kent Abram Pettingill, 91, of Burley, Idaho, and formerly of Kailua-Kona died March 19, 2016, at Highland Estates in Burley, Idaho.
Services will be held April 30 at the Grandview Cemetery in Elba, Idaho.
Born Nov. 16, 1924, in Elba, Idaho, he served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a radio operator, and was also a carpenter and member of Northern Alaska Carpenters Union.
He is survived by brother, Redge Pettingill; stepsons, Charles Beck, Eugene Lake of Kealakekua; numerous nieces and nephews.

John Tremblay
John Yves Tremblay, 86, of Kailua-Kona died April 4, 2016. Born April 24, 1929, in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada, he was a veteran in the Canadian Army, worked as a Certified Public Accountant and later became a business consultant.

He is survived by daughter, Joan Tremblay of Santa Barbara, Calif., one grandson; seven brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.

Alice Sueno
Alice Mitsue Sueno, 92, of Kaneohe, Oahu died March 21, 2016, at Straub Clinic and Hospital. Born in Honomu, she was a retired clerk for Kalakaua Kleaners.
She is survived by son, Leroy (Diane) Sueno of Kahului, Maui; daughters, Leimomi (Michael) Kawakami of Honolulu, Norma (Roy) Kobashigawa of Kaneohe, Oahu; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Sunakoda of Hilo; sisters, Betsy Honmyo of Wahiawa, Oahu, Ruth Tsukimura of Honolulu.
