James Moss
James “Jim” Dollard Moss, 82, of Kailua-Kona, died April 20, 2016, at his residence. Born June 19, 1933, in Evanston, Ill., he was the owner of Kona Communications, a trucking magazine publishing company. He was a member of the Big Island Country Club, former board member of Alii Villas, Christ Church Episcopal, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 23 at Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hale Kolokea, Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua.
He is survived by his son, James (Sandra) Moss, Jr., of Las Vegas; daughters, Patricia (Lawrence) Butler of Kailua-Kona, and Karen (Roderick) Saunders of San Diego; 3 grandchildren; numerous Dollard cousins.

Hilario Cabanting
Mr. Hilario Cacho Cabanting, 94, of Hilo, died April 14, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippine Islands and was retired from the former Puna Sugar Company as a planting machine operator.
Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. April 29 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by wife, Virginia Cabanting of Hilo; daughter, Carmela Flett of Salem, Oregon; sons, Edwin Cabanting of Hilo, Larry Cabanting of Beaverton, Ore., and Tommy Cabanting of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Alfredo Cabanting of Paradise Park; six grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Ruby Maekawa
Mrs. Ruby Reiko Maekawa, 74, of Hilo died April 19, 2016, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. She was born in July 24, 1941, in Hilo and was employed by the State of Hawaii Department of Education, retiring as a career pathways (health) teacher from Hilo High School. She belonged to the Hawaii State Teachers Association and the National Education Association and was a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. April 29 at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Buddhist Temple, 398 Kilauea Ave. Memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is requested.
She is survived by son, Kyle Nakayama of Hilo; daughter, Karla Perry of Pearl City; step-son, Schoen Maekawa of Honokaa; step-daughters, Colleen Masukawa of Kona, Dawn Sumida of Hilo, Treva Knowles of Spring Hills, Fla., and Tori Samiere of Honolulu; brothers, George Yoshida of Hilo and Howard Yoshida of Tennessee; sister, Judith Tamanaha of Aiea; sister- and brothers-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Ramona Rivera
Ramona Rivera, 69, of Hilo, died April 19, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Ramona was born on Dec. 8, 1946, on Kauai. She retired as a secretary at T&T Electric.
Celebration of life will be held on April 30 at the Malia Puka O’ Kalani Catholic Chruch, 326 Desha Avenue Hilo. Service starts at 10 a.m.
She is survived by her son, John Montoya of Hilo; brothers, Vincent Rivera of Hilo, Manuel Rivera Jr. of Kauai, Marty Rivera of Kauai; sister Didy Gonsalves of Nevada; 1 grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
