Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School hosts the 11th annual Laupahoehoe Music Festival on Saturday at Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park. Proceeds go to school’s agricultural and technology programs.
This year’s Hawaiian-style event, which runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., features some of the island’s best music and hula entertainers. The LCPCS Ukelele Band, featuring secondary school students under the direction of music instructor Todd Otake, will play this year.
Hui Kako-o O Laupahoehoe, the LCPCS nonprofit organization, will again offer a silent auction, with proceeds going to the arts and garden projects at the school.
There will also be games for keiki, which are $5 for eight games with automatic prizes. Traditional cuisines such as Hawaiian-style, Thai and more will be available for sale.
Tickets are $10 in advance at Hilo Guitars, Basically Books, CD Wizard and Hilo Music Exchange in Hilo, and Sakado Store in Laupahoehoe, Taro Patch in Honokaa, and in Kona at Music Exchange, or $15 at the gate. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.laupahoehoemusicfestival.org. Children younger than age 10 enter free.
