The West Hawaii County band, a 20-piece brass band comprised of community members, will perform a free concert at 6:30 p.m. this evening at Hale Halawai in Kailua Village.
The theme of this month’s concert is “April Jewels.” The concert will fetaure light and fun music from the band’s vast repertoire including “Sweet Georgia Brown” and “Baby Elephant Walk.” The band will also feature soloists from the membership in “Lassus Trombones” and “Over the Rainbow.”
Conducted by Lisa Archuletta, the band rehearses weekly and performs regular monthly concerts at Hale Halawai. Its repertoire includes march favorites, traditional brass band music, big band tunes and Hawaiian traditional tunes.
