Hilo’s Darlene Ahuna and Amy Hanaialii, the top-selling female vocalist in Hawaii, will headline this year’s May Day Brunch on Kamakahonu Bay.
Hilo’s Darlene Ahuna and Amy Hanaialii, the top-selling female vocalist in Hawaii, will headline this year’s May Day Brunch on Kamakahonu Bay.
The third annual May Day Brunch is Sunday, May 1, on the the makai lawn of the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel. Attendees who will be welcomed with a lei and the sweet smell of plumeria. The brunch features food stations and a no host bar.
Ahuna will open the festivities at 10 a.m. and Hanaialii will follow.
Tickets are $39 for adults and $15 for children younger than age 12. Reserved tables seating 10 are also available.
The first lei day was celebrated May 1, 1928, according to Kailua Village Business Improvement District, which puts on the annual event. Hawaii celebrates the season with the beauty of wearing a lei.
