HONOLULU (AP) — The state Department of Public Safety is welcoming more than two dozen new prison guards into its ranks.
The department says 27 correction officers were sworn in at graduation on Friday. They each finished a nine-week training course that covered professionalism, ethics, crisis intervention and other topics.
The officers are being assigned to prisons and jails across the state. Seven officers are heading to Oahu Community Correctional Center and six are going to Maui Community Correctional Center.
