Robert “Bob” Shigeru Shioji, 79, of Hilo died Feb. 20, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Sept. 25, 1936, in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii County elections deputy clerk, farmer and member of Hamakua and Hilo Farm Bureau.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. April 9 at Puhi Bay in Keaukaha for a celebration of life.
He is survived by son, Don Shioji of Hilo; daughter, Leilani (Timothy Young) Shioji of Hilo; brothers, George (Eva) Ahuna of Oregon, Walter (Martha) Ahuna of Hilo; sisters, Luella Aina, Wanda (Patrick) Cardines, both of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sumio Shitabata, 83, of Laupahoehoe died March 4, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 8, 1933, in Papaaloa, he was a retired diesel mechanic at the former Laupahoehoe Sugar Co., a U.S. Army veteran, co-owner of Papaaloa Store, member of the Hakalau Jodo Mission, Papaaloa Hongwanji and Hiroshima Kenjinkai.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. April 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested. No flowers.
He is survived by wife, Asako Shitabata of Laupahoehoe; sons, Roy Shitabata of Papaaloa, Eddie (Yun) Shitabata of Honolulu; brothers, Takio Shitabata, Earl (Marian) Shitabata, both of Honolulu, Albert (Aileen) Shitabata of Hilo; sisters, Mitsuko (Taichi) Isono of Hilo, Mildred (Fred) Endo of Gardena, Calif., June Shitabata of Honolulu; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one aunt; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Anita Theresa Politano Steckel, 86, of Hilo died March 14, 2016, at home. Born in New York City, she was a retired teacher with the University of Hawaii, Georgetown University, the American University, Institute of Foreign Language and Belmar Catholic School, former Peace Corps trainer, former Hawaii County Police Commissioner and a member of the Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, Puueo Kumiai, Puueo Community Association, Friends of Downtown Hilo and the Hawaii Concert Society.
Friends may call at at 9 a.m. April 9 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. Mass. Private scattering of her ashes will occur at a later date. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
She is survived by step daughter, Sara (Peter) Raynor of Maryland; stepsons, Geoffrey Steckel of Massachusetts, Roger Steckel of Edmond, Okla.; brother, Pascal Politano of Constableville, N.Y.; two step grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Zosima “Zosing” Tumamang Tabilin, 73, of Naalehu died Feb. 29, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 8, 1942, in Sual, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a nut harvester for M.L. Orchards and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu.
Friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. April 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Naalehu for a 10 a.m. Mass. Cremation will follow. Casual attire.
She is survived by, sons, Florentino (Nida) Tabilin of Philippines, Efren Tabilin of Naalehu, Oscar (Lolita Candaroma) Tabilin of Naalehu; daughters, Marilyn Bilog of Naalehu, Juliet (Mariano) Rosario of Naalehu and the Philippines, and Minerva (Elmer Jr.) Ceria of Italy; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Leroy Dulaney, 86, of Hilo died March 18, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. He was a retired construction worker, member of Victory Chapel in Hilo and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Joan Shaw, 77, of Hilo died March 21, 2016, at Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Aug. 31, 1938, in Kona, she retired as a bookkeeper.
She is survived by son, John Shaw of Hilo; daughters, Janet Neil of California, Jessica Shaw of Washington; brother, Harry Yamamoto of Hilo; sisters, Kathleen Yamamoto of Hilo, Edith Armstrong of Texas; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gaylord “Duke” Ervan Albright, 76, of Kailua-Kona died March 21, 2016. Born Jan. 9, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kan., he was a high school teacher and counselor and a general contractor.
