Photographer Doug Perrine was voted “Best in Show” at the recently held Art at the Pavilion event in Keauhou.
More than three dozen local artists displayed and sold work during the fundraising effort held at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay. Perrine earned first place of five “Best in Show” artists judged by public ballot.
Earning second place was fused glass artist Ronni Barbula and third place was Robert Smith, who works in metals. Fourth and fifth place went to oil painters Jeannie Garcia and Penny Gupton, respectively.
Each of the five winning artists will receive a framed award. First and second place winners will receive their artist floor space in the 2017 show free-of-charge.
The auxiliary had hoped to earn enough to purchase a $6,000 vein finder for Kona Community Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, but fell short. It will host another small fundraiser on May 7 with a guest speaker and silent auction at Kona Community Hospital.
