The shops and art galleries of historic Holualoa Village will celebrate local art and music this evening from 5:30 until 8:30 pm. More than a dozen studios and stores will stay open late to welcome friends and visitors with new art work, pupu and music.

Highlighting the event is the grand opening of Kira Kamamalu’s new “A Work of Art” studio and showroom in her new gallery at the Kona Hotel. Featured will be her new royal beds made of native Hawaiian hardwoods.

Pearls and diamonds are the birthstones for April, and Pat Pearlman Designs is featuring original creations, as well as a variety of temporarily strung freshwater pearls at her gallery in the Kona Hotel.

Across the street, David Lawrance will again be rockin’ the Koa Realty lanai.

At Cinderella’s, there will be a Pop-Up event featuring sea glass and shell artwork by Jewelry of Elise Jens along with a selection of original art, prints and cards.

William Wingert will be creating a new oil painting on Friday night at the Holualoa Gallery. Also on display will be a selection of original paintings by Pat Hill, Sunny Pauole, Lynn Capell, Martha Heppard and Sarah Soward, as well as the original framed 1985 “Study for Pele,” by Herb Kawainui Kane.

Glyph Art Gallery will feature new watercolor paintings by local artists Diane Tunnell and Lisa Bunge. Glyph will also be offering two new framed collections of Hawaiian fish hooks on olona fiber, carved and woven by Kona’s Gary Eoff.

The MField Gallery will be debuting new paintings by Mike and Terry Field, and new jewelry by Jana Luxe of Kiana’s Creations. Surfboard shaper Gary Young will be on hand to talk story and show off his latest Hawaiian wood creations.
