KAILUA-KONA — No new dengue fever cases were confirmed over the weekend on Hawaii Island, state health officials said Monday.

With no new cases, the confirmed case count remains at 263, according to the Department of Health. Though none of the cases are still considered potentially infectious to mosquitoes, health officials cautioned that some infectious mosquitoes may still be present on the island.

The last onset of illness was March 17, according to the department.

Of the 263 confirmed cases, 237 are Hawaii Island residents and 26 are visitors, according to the department. Forty-six have been children.

As of Monday, state health officials have excluded 1,537 reported cases based on test results and/or not meeting case criteria.
