Elderly Recreation Services will offer a five-week course on meditation with Sifu Wayne Chenault beginning Tuesday and continuing from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays through April 26.
The course will include deep meditation, crystal Buddha meditation, chi kung slow walking meditation, and making life your meditation. This class is open to anyone 55 and older and will be held at St. Benedict’s Church, also called the Painted Church, in Honaunau. Cost for the five-week program is $5.

Advisory council applicants sought
The Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife and Forest Service are seeking applications for the Laupahoehoe Advisory Council and the Puu Waawaa Advisory Council.
Members of the Laupahoehoe Advisory Council provide guidance to DLNR and the Forest Service on issues related to management, research, education, and public access in the Hawaii Experimental Tropical Forest and state lands in the Hamakua district.
Puu Waawaa Advisory Council members provide guidance to DLNR for state lands in North Kona that include the Puu Waawaa Forest Reserve, Bird Sanctuary, Kiholo State Park Reserve and the makai lands of Puu Anahulu.
Applicants are sought to fill two positions in the following categories: Hui Ohana mai Puu Anahulu a me Puu Waawaa representative (one seat), and grazing specialist (one seat).
Applicants with appropriate backgrounds are sought. Members meet quarterly at Puu Waawaa forest reserve.
Applications must be received by May 18. Applications are at www.hetf.us or can be obtained at the Division of Forestry and Wildlife office, 66-1220A Lalamilo Road in Waimea.
