Richard Gentei Diedrichs, a Dharma teacher at Daifukuji Zen Temple in Kona, recently released “Living in Blue Sky Mind: Basic Buddhist Teachings for a Happy Life.”
The author of four books, Diedrichs was ordained a Zen priest in 1984 by Genki Takabayashi Roshi. His new book explains and describes the practices of Buddhism for teens and adults — both the curious and the already practicing. He does this via simple lessons, anecdotes of personal transformation, and reflective questions to guide the reader along Buddha’s enlightened way.
Diedrichs grew up in Los Angeles and edited travel and health magazines in Seattle, worked as an editor at the schools of engineering and public health at the University of California, Berkeley, and then taught in public elementary schools in the San Francisco Bay area.
The book goes on sale April 1 at online retailers like Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble and select local retailers.
